The English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) is the successor to the California English Language Development Test (CELDT). State and federal law require that local educational agencies administer a state test of ELP to eligible students in kindergarten (or year one of a two-year kindergarten program, sometimes referred to as “transitional kindergarten”) through grade twelve. This workshop covers the Summative Assessment only. Participants will need to attend a separate workshop to be certified for the Initial Assessment.
Those in attendance will learn to reliably and validly administer the ELPAC, score the writing and speaking items through a calibration process, and receive certification to administer the Summative ELPAC Assessment at the completion of the workshop.*
* per CDE requirements, participants must remain the entire session to receive
Important: Because of testing differences for the K-5 and 6-12, it is highly recommended that districts send two people to be certified. If only one person attends, they will need to return for an additional afternoon
