Topics of discussion will include:

  • Identify local public health issues related to children/ families.   
  • Discuss how the school nurse can help children and families with chronic health issues and work with public health. 
  • Identify the interventions for minimizing Flu in schools. Review the immunizations requirements for children in schools.  
  • Review the management of TB and the screening and follow up.  
  • Discuss Communicable diseases and how the school nurse can manage and report.

Foothill Horizons Outdoor School to Dedicate “Carl’s Campfire Circle" in Honor of Carl Boyett

The Stanislaus County Office of Education and Foothill Horizons Outdoor School will hold a special dedication ceremony to commemorate the official opening of “Carl’s Campfire Circle” on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Foothill Horizons in Sonora (21925 Lyons Bald Mountain Road).  Every year, 6,000 students from Stanislaus County participate in three to five days of interactive science education at Foothill Horizons overnight facility in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
