Additional Renewal Requirements (Induction)

Occasionally (usually due to teacher preparation happening outside of California), your preliminary (or Level I) credential will have requirements in addition to the completion of an Induction program which must also be accomplished before you can be recommended for your clear credential.  These requirements can be found on your credential copy in the "Renewal Requirements" section.  As a courtesy, we review this information with our candidates at the Orientation event and record them on the Additional Renewal Requirements Form (or ARRF).  A copy of this document is then placed in the READ ONLY folder of the candidates CGE for their reference.  It is the professional responsibility of each candidate to know what their requirements are and to meet them before clear credential recommendation can occur.  Below you will find various resources which will better explain the requirements and how to meet them in addition to resources for completing them.

CTC Leaflets on specific requirements and how to fulfill them:

Basic Skills Requirement (CL-667)

EL Auth- English Learner Authorization/CLAD Certificate (CL-628C)

  • Additional notes on clearing the EL Auth:
    • Once you pass the CTEL exam, further action is required on your part to then use that to clear the EL Auth requirement.  There are one of two paths that you may choose to then meet this requirement.
      1. Apply for your clear CLAD at the CTC with your scores.  The Induction office would then wait for the clear CLAD to show up in your CTC account (or, to expedite, you can let us know when this happens).  At that point, provided you have met all your other completion requirements, we will be able to recommend you for your clear MS credential online. [OR]
      2. Once all your other completion requirements are finished, contact one of our credentials analysts (contact information below) for an appointment.  Bring your CTEL scores to the appointment and the analyst will help you apply for both the clear CLAD and clear credential together, by mail.  You will need to contact the Induction office ahead of the appointment to be sure that we have time to prepare the documents you will need for recommendation and to secure the signature of our Director (who is frequently off-site and may not be readily available to sign your recommendation), or there may be an additional wait time.
