The students of Stanislaus County Office of Education’s Leadership Academy attended Health Care Day on March 3. The class started the day at Sutter Memorial Medical Center, where they had the opportunity to meet Chief Executive Officer Gino Patrizo, tour the training lab, and enjoy a line-up of presentations from staff across multiple departments, including trauma and labor and delivery. Following the Sutter Memorial Medical Center tour, students traveled to Doctors Medical Center, where they toured several departments, including the emergency room, operating room, and helicopter pad.
On April 14, students experienced Agriculture Day, beginning at Sciabica’s California Olive Oil, then toured Duarte Nursery, Valley Milk and Divert Inc.
Managing Your Life Day on May 5 closed out the year-long class tours with presentations from a variety of speakers, including Dan Costa and staff from the Stanislaus County Superior Court, Modesto Junior College, Institute of Technology, Toastmasters, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, mental health clinicians and Stanislaus County Superintendent of Schools Scott Kuykendall. Presentations focused on valuable life skills students will need as they look forward to transitioning to college or professional life!
